Farewell to FiOS...

Writer's picture: Christine PersichetteChristine Persichette

So today was supposed to be our last day on the air at FiOS... but since we were shut down a couple days earlier (on Wednesday) I actually went out on a Thursday night! A get together was held at a bar/restaurant near the station for my coworkers to say goodbye. It was a night to reminisce about the past... and look forward to the future. And while we said goodbye... it may not actually be goodbye. One thing I’ve learned working in TV News is that it’s a small business. Mike Gilliam and I worked together at My 9 News. Janine Rose and I worked together at News 12. Lisa Salvati and I worked at competing stations in Rochester, NY. And we all met again at FiOS. And now, looking ahead, I am going to be doing some freelance work for Fox News Radio... and, it turns out, so are about 5 others from FiOS! For those who won‘t be at Fox, we’ll stay In touch. That’s the positive side of social media- it keeps people connected. So, although I may not see them everyday, I can still check in on them... thanks to Facebook and Instagram. Oh- and we have plans to get together again next week... where some former coworkers will be in attendance. Because even though FiOS ended... the friendships made at FiOS will last.
