Back to School

The backpacks were packed and ready as I left for work this morning... it’s the first “first day of school” that I won’t be there to put my boys on the bus. And I’m sad. Not that they need me... my oldest is starting 7th grade and the twins are going into 3rd. I guess I need them... while they’re still young enough to give me hugs and kisses... and not be embarrassed when holding my hand at the bus stop. Everyone says your kids grow up too fast... but there are still days you can’t wait for the day they can pick out their own clothes (my boys do that already), tie their sneakers (we’re working on it) and brush their teeth without being reminded (not sure when that will happen LOL). But it’s days like these... when I’m missing an important moment in their lives... that makes me want to slow time down. Now I don’t want to go back in time... I definitely don’t miss changing diapers (especially when there are 2!)... I just want to linger here for a little longer... before there are girlfriends (definitely going to have a hard time with that one 😬🤣), drivers licenses and college move in days. So I’m looking forward to being at the bus stop when they come home this afternoon... to listen to their first day of school stories... tell them to wash their hands... and give them hugs and kisses... while they’ll still let me.
